Facilitators
At Shrooms Cafe we do not list our facilitators identities prior to joining the session.
We follow a philosophy rooted in the belief that the mushroom itself, rather than the facilitator, is the true source of healing in psychedelic experiences. We emphasize that the power to heal and facilitate transformation lies within the psychedelic substance — in this case, the mushroom — rather than in the person guiding the experience. This is aligned with the direction we operate in from the State of Oregon where our services are designed to be non-directive.
Shrooms Cafe carefully selects its facilitators, who each bring decades of unique experiences with psychedelic medicines and come from diverse healing backgrounds.
Our facilitators are not there to direct or lead the experience, but to create a safe, comfortable, supportive environment for participants to engage with the mushroom in a meaningful way. The focus is on the mushroom’s inherent healing properties, with the facilitator's role being secondary — providing safety, setting the space, and ensuring an enjoyable setting for the journey. This approach perhaps reflects a deeper understanding of psychedelics as tools for self-discovery.
In line with the requirements of Oregon's Measure 109, Shrooms Cafe operates in this non-directive manner, which means that facilitators do not guide or manipulate the experience. This is a key principle, which allows for the therapeutic use of psilocybin under strictly regulated, non-directive conditions.
By following these guidelines, Shrooms Cafe ensures that participants’ journeys remain autonomous and focused on their own process of self-discovery, rather than being influenced by the facilitator.
In contrast, many service centers might list facilitators to build trust, showcase qualifications, or demonstrate the role of trained professionals in guiding participants through their experiences.
The Shrooms Cafe team, however, feels that highlighting the facilitator could unintentionally shift the focus away from the transformative potential of the psychedelic experience itself. We try our best to make the experience fun, engaging, and connected with every combination of people that exist. We believe it works.
Of course, we also enthusiastically suggest that the integration process may be best served by ongoing processes and facilitators may be great candidates for ongoing therapeutic offerings.
Thank you for taking the time to understand our thoughts on the important part of the experience.
